  • COGS is the registered graduate student government which represents the interests of students in research-based Doctoral and Master's programs across the University of Minnesota.

  • We use a modified version of this parlimentary procedure during all official meetings in order to maintain organization and impartiality. To get an overview of how it works, visit "Your First General Assembly Meeting".

• What should I do to prepare for my first meeting?

  • All are welcome at General Assembly meetings. To help you feel comfortable and prepare you, we have provided a guide about what to expect: "Your First General Assembly Meeting".

• Who should I contact to get involved with COGS?

  • If your program has a representative, you might want to ask them general questions. Otherwise, you can contact the member of the Leadership Team most relevant to your questions.

• What can I do to get involved?

  • Ready to take the next step and join COGS? COGS holds annual elections for the Executive Committee in April of each year. To learn more about the organization, you may view this year's ratified bylaws and constitution.

• How do I bring attention to an issue that is important to me?

  • You can contact the current speaker at cogsspkr@umn.edu to discuss getting your issue put on a meeting agenda or evaluating the best way to address it. Please send your proposal at least two weeks ahead of a General Assembly meeting.
